Programming Internships: (college students only)
Nonprofit and International Governance and Diplomacy
Student interns are introduced to the world of citizen diplomacy through the work of the International Center of the Capital Region, a 67-year-old nonprofit which covers 23 counties in New York State. They will work on proposals and agendas for professional international exchange visitor groups through the U.S. Department and U.S. Congress and help with record keeping related to their visits. Students will also assist with other international programs and events which raise the profile of immigrants and refugees and they will interact with ICCR’s staff, volunteers and board of directors on various projects as needed.
International Education: (all students)
Student interns will help with planning ICCR’s youth programs, including Academic WorldQuest (AWQ), which is the flagship youth education program of the World Affairs Councils of America. AWQ is a team game testing high school students’ knowledge of international affairs. The ICCR’s AWQ competition brings together students from across the Capital Region in March at Hudson Valley Community College (HVCC) and the winners go to the national competition in April in Washington, D.C.
In addition, student interns will help develop a Model UN Conference in the Capital Region in 2025 at HVCC and other ICCR youth diplomacy initiatives (for students K-12) while working with our board’s youth programming members.
Students will also assist with ICCR events and programs to learn more about the world of citizen diplomacy.
Communication Internship: (college students only)
Graphic design, writing, marketing, digital, photography, videography and podcasting
Student interns will work on designing, writing and promoting marketing materials for ICCR programs, events, community engagement and more. Their work will be used for social media, printed materials, website, newsletter and other outreach and media. This internship is designed for all types of communication students depending on their area of interest and/or expertise to prepare them for the real world.
